- Find a favorite, local auto body supply distributor to buy all or most of your supplies from. If you can, find one that specializes in auto detailing and can answer your many questions about car care.
Offer to customers or start out with a mobile service rather than trying to rent a shop. Actually, a mobile service is best because customers prefer it when you can come right to their home or place of business. And it's generally much more economical, low budget for you because you have no auto detailing shop to rent, less insurance needed too.Your Car Wash Should Consist of the Following:- Wash outside of car, including wheels, rims, and wheel wells using dish washing cleanser. Ajax cleanser works excellent for dirty/greasy wheels.
Dry outside of car immediately after washing with non-scratching towels. Old cotton tee shirts or cotton baby diapers are excellent for both drying and cleaning, but drying with chamois is best to prevent water spots.Clean windows, mirrors, and ash tray. Dress tires and trim. Wipe door jams with damp cloth. Vacuum and clean inside of car and trunk, dust and clean dash with good cleaning agent. And Your Auto Detailing:- Wash and clean interior and exterior as for a car wash above.
Detail logos and trim to remove dirt, grease, and built-up wax. Use spray bottle with water containing a little detergent to wash out dirt and grime from hard to get at places and corners almost impossible to get at with a rag.Clay the paint. Use claying to remove contaminant build-up from the air and road and also smooth the paint. Claying is often preferred over the use of polishing compound because claying will remove contaminants without removing a lot of paint as in polishing.Machine buffing of exterior paint to remove most scratches and old, dulled paint. First wash car thoroughly with a car wash soap. Then buff using a rotary variable buffer/polisher with four ply buffing pads for the best versatility and easiest use in corners and on angled surfaces. Machine polish lightly exterior to remove any swirl marks left from machine buffing. This will produce a nice shine. Hand application of wax. For a deep, wet-look shine, use a good synthetic polymer wax, for both a great shine and the best durability.Clean and dress interior vinyl and leather using Pinnacle Leather Cleaner/Conditioner, one-step process.Shampoo upholstery, seats, carpet, and floor mats using a power shampooer and a good shampoo. Cigarette smoke is difficult to get out, penetrating past the fabric, all the way to the upholstery padding, and into other areas of the car interior, such as the vents. Cigarette odors are very hard to get out, but you can try using an all natural neutralizer bomb to get rid of most of itDetail clean dash, including gauges, knobs, and vents. First clean dash, steering wheel, etc. with warm water and a soft towel and allow to dry. Some then prefer using protectant like Armour All because it leaves such a beautiful shine. It's amazing what you can do with waxing and polishing a car. When I was a teen, I had this black, 1950 Ford Fairlane convertible. It was my first car and I was constantly polishing it. One day a friend asked me, “Wow! Is that a new paint job?” I said, “No, it just has about 10 coats of polish!” But, actually, the weird “paint job” my car had was old. Yes, it's amazing what you can do with polish and a lot of tender loving care. And I hope you find that it's profitable for you too! If you found this helpful to you, please share it!
