Errand Service: An Easy and Rewarding
Small Business

According to a recent survey, about 40% of people are willing to have an errand service deliver their groceries to them. People need help. As people face the dilemma of how much they can squeeze into a 24-hour day, the demand for this type of service grows by leaps and bounds. Businesses too, out of necessity and limited time, are “outsourcing” many of their daily activities.

Some examples of services needed by people or organizations are:

  • Taking children to the doctor or dentist office.

  • Helping the elderly to their doctor appointments, shopping, visiting friends or relatives, exercise and fitness regimens.

  • Taking an automobile or other equipment in for repair or servicing.

  • Picking out a last minute gift.

  • Grocery shopping for individuals and businesses.

  • Special delivering mail, packages, and most any other item that needs quick hand delivery.

  • Delivery and pickup of cloths to a launder or shoe repair store.

  • Driving pets to the vet or groomer.

  • Chauffeuring children and teenagers.

How Can You Start?

This can be another very easy business to start, but it has great potentials. Just like all businesses, you must start small. See if you can find some relatives, friends, or neighbors that need this kind of help and service. Ask for very little to begin with, maybe minimum wage or even less. Strive for a quality service.

You might even consider doing it for free for a while, to get the feel for things. And of course, you will need a good automobile, preferably a van, but it depends on the type of errand service you will have.

A big tip is this: find a good, honest, smart friend and join forces. I said this before, many hands (and minds) make for light work and you will also find, much more profit! Very few small businesses succeed as a solo effort. TEAM WORK MAKES THE DAY!

Advertising Your Errand Service

Once you know this is the small business you want, began to advertise. There are many ways to advertise, but the easiest and most economical place these days, for advertising, in America, and throughout the world, is Craigslist.com.

But that's if you live near, within say 15 miles, of a major city such as Los Angeles, New York, London, St. Petersburg, Etc. Craigslist is great for these reasons: it's free dude! And depending on the major city you live near, Craigslist draws an incredible amount of traffic.

Another effective and inexpensive way to get business is passing out business cards to friends, relatives, at church, or wherever. You may find that this is the most effective, the easiest, and best way of getting the word out.

An errand service small business holds not only the possibility of generating a great income for you, but can be a terrific way to serve others and your community.
