Small business accounting
bookkeeping
accurate record keeping

Keep Record Keeping
Simple

When first opening a Small Business, don't get into anything real deep. Small business accounting is one of those things. Please don't get me wrong. Keeping great records is not only helpful, but essential to the success of your small business start-up, and required by federal and state laws. However, what I'm saying is this, don't over do it.

You do not have to be a certified public accountant or even go to school to learn what you need, as far bookkeeping, to start a small business. By the way, there is a difference between accounting and bookkeeping but both are used commonly in the small business community to describe general record keeping.

Remember Your Priorities

Yes, small business accounting, bookkeeping, and accurate record keeping is very important. However, make sure that, especially at the beginning of your small business start-up, you are concentrating on the biggest issues for success. For example, say your goal is starting a business on the Internet as an affiliate marketer. You should, of course, concentrate diligently on building an excellent, traffic generating website!

Your business's accounting would consist of: save all business receipts, keep an accurate record of expenditures and earnings. The easiest and least expensive system of record keeping that I know of is one that I used myself for six years and still use! It's called Dome Simplified Monthly Bookkeeping Record, written by Nicholas Picchione, a certified public accountant.

The Easiest Small Business
Accounting System

These books are written by a certified public accountant. Dome books are easy to use and satisfy state and federal laws for record keeping. Dome also has bookkeeping software available meeting all your small business accounting needs. By the way, I'm in no way affiliated with Dome products...this information is for your benefit only.

I also suggest, instead of trying to do your own small business taxes at the end of the year (or at the end of each quarter) to find a good company that will do it for you. This will probably save you a big headache and actually save you money too! There are many good ones around. The only one that I have used for many years and have always been greatly satisfied with is H and R Block.

Some Best Small Business

Quickbooks Premier Accounting Software, http://quickbooks.com
Can be a very complete solution to your small business accounting. This is a popular accounting software, equally suitable for a small solo entrepreneur business, all the way to a small business with many employees.
